The Magic Keyboard 2 with Touch ID is a pointing device that was designed, manufactured, and currently sold by Apple since 2021 as part of the Apple Keyboard series. The Keyboard has been introduced on April 20, 2021, alongside the all-new iMac, Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2 in new colors, and Magic Keyboard 2.
The new Magic Keyboard comes in 7 colors: Blue, Green, Pink, Silver, Yellow, Orange, and Purple. Colors are the same as housing in new color variants of iMacs. A new keyboard will be bundled with a color-matching iMac.
On August 3, 2021, Apple released Magic Keyboard as a standalone purchase only in Silver color for just $149.
The new Magic Keyboard 2 features the same iconic design as the original Magic Keyboard, new more rounded corners, and new function keys: Emoji, Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and Touch ID.
The Touch ID in this keyboard is providing an encrypted channel based on secure wireless fingerprint data transmission by a secure processor built-in in the keyboard and Secure Enclave in the M1 chip on the new iMac. Touch ID in Magic Keyboard is working in the same way as in iPhone, iPad Air, or MacBook Pro, and provides an easy way to unlock your device or make a payment through Apple Pay.
Magic Keyboard 2 with Touch ID is dedicated to Mac computers with Apple Silicon only.
Today Magic Keyboard 2 with Touch ID is 22 months old!
