The Apple Pencil 2nd Generation is a pointing device that was designed, manufactured, and currently sold by Apple since 2018 as part of the Apple Pencil series. The 2nd generation of Pencil has been introduced on October 30, 2018, released on November 7, 2018, and its price started at $129.
This Apple Pencil was announced alongside the iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd Generation as a dedicated pointing device. It communicates wirelessly via Bluetooth and has a magnetic wireless connector charging.
It is similar in design and specifications to the first model of Apple Pencil, but without the detachable Lightning connector, and part of the stylus is flattened to inhibit rolling.
The physical Lightning connector in the second generation Pencil is replaced by a magnetic wireless charging connector on the iPad Pro instead. It contains tap-sensitive zones on its sides that can be mapped to functions within apps.
Today Apple Pencil 2nd Generation is 5 years old!
