watchOS 2 is an operating system that was designed, developed by Apple in 2015, and was preinstalled on Apple Watch. The system has been released on September 21, 2015, and gets the last update (2.2.2) on July 18, 2016, and later has been replaced by a newer version of watchOS 3.
watchOS 2 included major improvements such as support for native third-party apps. It features Nightstand Mode, New Watch Faces and timekeeping features, Siri improvements, Activity and Workout improvements, Apple Pay, and Wallet improvements.
There is also the ability to make and receive calls using FaceTime audio, a Transit view showing transit lines, stations, and intermodal connections in select major cities, and a native SDK to build faster and more powerful apps running natively on Apple Watch. Activation Lock now prevents anyone from activating your Apple Watch without your Apple ID and password.
Today watchOS 2 is 7 years old!
