OS X Server 4.0 is a server operating system that was designed, developed, and sold by Apple from 2014 to 2015 alongside OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The system has been released on October 16, 2014, and was available for $19.99 from Mac App Store. This software gets the last update (4.1.5) on August 13, 2015, and later has been replaced by a newer version of macOS Server 5.0.
OS X Server provides the tools to simplify access to key network services, including a mail transfer agent, AFP and SMB servers, an LDAP server, a domain name server, and others.
Also included (particularly in later versions) are numerous additional services and the tools to manage them, such as web server, wiki server, chat server, calendar server, and many others.
Today OS X Server 4.0 is 8 years old!
