In 1992, Apple introduced the Macintosh Performa 600CD, a personal computer that was part of the Macintosh Performa series. The computer was designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple and was first released on September 14th of that year. With a starting price of $2,000, the Macintosh Performa 600CD was a powerful machine for its time.
The Macintosh Performa 600CD featured a 32 MHz Motorola 68030 processor, a Motorola 68882 FPU coprocessor, and either 4 MB or 5 MB of RAM. It also had a hard drive that could hold either 80 MB or 160 MB of data and a 2x CD-ROM drive as well as a 1.44 MB floppy drive.
Despite its impressive specifications, the Macintosh Performa 600CD was discontinued on October 18, 1993. Today, 30 years later, the Macintosh Performa 600CD is a piece of tech history, remembered for its powerful performance and innovative design.
