The Mac OS X Server 10.5 Leopard is an operating system that was designed, developed, and sold by Apple from 2007 to 2009 alongside Apple’s server computers. The system has been released on October 26, 2007, and was available for $499 (10 Clients) or $999 (Unlimited Clients).
This software gets the last update (10.5.8) on August 31, 2009, and later has been replaced by a newer version of Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard introduced over 300 features and improvements such as a significantly revised desktop, with a redesigned Dock, Stacks, a semitransparent menu bar, and an updated Finder that incorporates the Cover Flow visual navigation interface first seen in iTunes.
Other notable features include support for writing 64-bit graphical user interface applications, an automated backup utility called Time Machine, support for Spotlight searches across multiple machines, and many more.
Leopard Server includes as well FreeRADIUS for network authentication. It ships with support for wireless access stations, however, can be modified into a fully functioning FreeRADIUS server, and for the first time support for Ruby on Rails, the server-side Web application framework.
