The Mac OS X 10.3 Panther is an operating system that was designed, developed, and sold by Apple from 2003 to 2005 alongside Apple’s personal computers. The system has been released on October 24, 2003, and was available for $129 and in the family pack for $199 or was preinstalled on currently sold computers. This software gets the last update (10.3.9) on April 15, 2005, and later has been replaced by a newer version of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
Mac OS X 10.3 Panther introduced many features and improvements such as new window management Exposé, improved Finder, AES-128 encryption for personal files, enhanced version of Preview, faxing, faster Mail, and Font Book; a font management tool. Also, iDisk access and synchronization were significantly improved.
Two new features got the most attention: Fast User Switching and Xcode. Fast User Switching was one of the most eagerly awaited features that enabled users who shared a Mac to switch between accounts without quitting applications and logging out.
