Mac OS 9 is an operating system that was designed and developed by Apple in 1999 alongside Apple’s personal computers. The system has been released on October 23, 1999, and was available for $99 or was preinstalled on currently sold computers.
Mac OS 9 was featuring more than 50 new features and 9 internet power tools. This release was focused mainly on Sherlock improvements but included a series of bug fixes and new features such as protected memory, pre-emptive multitasking, multiple users support, a new Energy Saver Control Panel, hibernate function, and many more.
On January 9, 2001, this Mac OS has been replaced by a newer version of Mac OS 9.1.
Today Mac OS 9 is 23 years old!
