The iPhone OS 2.0 (iOS 2.0) is an operating system that was designed and developed especially for iPhone by Apple in 2008. The system has been released on July 11, 2008, and was preinstalled on the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd Generation. This software gets the last update (2.2.1) on January 27, 2009, and later has been replaced by a newer version of iPhone OS 3.0.
This version was the second major release of the iPhone OS, which became available with the release of the iPhone 3G. Devices running the previous version (iPhone OS 1) are upgradable to this version. iPhone OS 2.0 introduces the App Store, making third-party applications available to the iPhone and iPod touch.
Unfortunately, iPhone OS 2 costs $9.95 for iPod touch users and is free for iPhone users.
Today iPhone OS 2.0 is 15 years old!
