The Apple iPhone (1st Generation / iPhone 2G) is a smartphone that was designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple from 2007 to 2008 as part of the iPhone series. The revolutionary mobile phone has been introduced on January 9, 2007, and its price started at $499.
Apple’s first iPhone is a device that combines three functions; mobile phone, Internet communications functionality, and iPod. The iPhone’s user interface is built around a multi-touch screen with a virtual keyboard.
The iPhone connects to cellular networks or Wi-Fi and can make calls, browse the web, take pictures, play music, and send and receive emails and text messages.
Original iPhone features Quad-band GSM capability, an 412 MHz Samsung ARM 11 processor, 3.5″ multi-touch LCD Display, 4 / 8 or 16 GB of flash memory, 128 MB of RAM, built-in Wi-Fi, EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 2.0 Mpix camera, accelerometer, Dock connector, 3.5-mm headphone jack, and 8 hours of talk time (up to 250 hours in standby).
On February 5, 2008, Apple decided to offer mobile phones with double the amount of memory for the same price; 4 GB to 8 GB for $499, and 8 GB to 16 GB for $599.
This iPhone has been discontinued on June 9, 2008, and has been replaced by iPhone 3G.
