Apple Disk III

The Apple Disk III is an external 5.25″ floppy disk drive that was designed, manufactured, and sold by Apple from 1980 to 1984. Disk III has been introduced on September 1, 1980, and was designed specifically for use with the Apple III computer and later for Apple III Plus as well.

This floppy drive was the first variation of the Disk II introduced for the Apple III and used the identical drive mechanism inside a modified plastic case with a proprietary connector. With some modification both drives are interchangeable.

This Disk III has been discontinued on May 1, 1984.

Today Apple Disk III is 42 years old!
